SIP forking

What is SIP Forking?

What is Parallel Forking?

Parallel forking is where the SIP call will be directed to multiple devices. All devices attached to the extension will ring at the same time, and any can be used to answer and begin the call.

What is Sequential Forking?

Sequential forking calls only one device at a time. A sequence is set up in the order that the user of the extension would like the devices to be called. Should one device not be answered, the next device in the sequence will then be called.
Most popular IP PBX systems support SIP Forking, and it is often as easy as assigning rules in a management console. For more information on the different features of SIP Trunking, VoIP and more – check out our resources or blog pages.
