VoIP performs best with a small amount dedicated bandwidth, a quality focused codec used and low latency from the handset to the SIP trunk provider.

Can you use VoIP over satellite Internet?
Voice over IP (VoIP) will work over satellite internet, however not necessarily well or reliably, due to a number of quality factors impacted by Satellite connections. These include:
